Do You Want A Steady Stream Of Tips To Move Your Game Up Through The Gears?
The smash is a shot I see rarely missed at the Pro level, yet is a shot that is a bit of a lottery at club level!
But how often do you practise it?
If you like to get to the net , you should be putting in some practise time as well as practising the volley.
5 POINT PLAN
1. Early sideways preparation is key - just like you were getting ready to serve.
2. You should be in a "PRE-THROW" position i.e. the same position you would be in if you had just let go of the ball for a serve.
3. Use your outstretched non-racket hand to "track" the ball.
4. Keep watching the ball as you continue to adjust your position to the ball flight.
5. Use side steps and cross over steps to allow the ball to come down just in front of you.
5. Make contact with the ball at pretty much full stretch using a throwing action like your serve.
NOTE
You should focus on quality of contact and not pace as a well struck tennis smash will generally have plenty enough "juice" on it to win you the point if you place it well!!!
